Part of the reason I grabbed these wheels(in addition to them looking cool and being close by) is it looked like the hub bore had to be big enough with how close the lug holes are to the bore.
It was in the 60s, and the backyard wasn't a swamp, so I messed with the truck a bit today. Took a bit of time to get it safely-ish lifted to work on the brakes, and while it was in the air decided to test fit one of the wheels.
It sticks out enough that I don't think I'll use it unless the truck is lowered sufficiently, and I find a decent set of fender flares for it. So, steel wheels for the first round, most likely.
Being as it has been sitting with the calipers removed all this time, fittings were a little frozen. Copious amounts of PB blaster, Kroil, and the propane torch were used to free them up. Also installed new soft outer brake lines. There is one under the hood, but I would have had to crawl all the way under to loosen it, and I just didn't want to take the risk. Next time I am out there, I'll see if I can get under it while the truck is on the ground. If not, I'll just hope it hasn't deteriorated too much. Also pulled the master cylinder, but did not have time to bench bleed and install the new one. Next go around, I'm hoping to get the front brakes working. May wait to mess with the rears until it is on pavement.
Oh yeah, those the two coil hold down bolts that broke before - I was able to easily back the remnants of them out the wheel well with a vice grip. The threaded holes are in great shape, so I'll grab a couple used bolts out of my stash at some point to replace them. Pretty sure they are just M6x1.0.
Those look exactly like the wheels that I have on my 88 montero! They definitely would stick out without some sort of flare.
