It's mndsm's car for all intents and purposes.
I'm in no rush and the car isn't exactly mobile at the moment, and won't be until Sir Mndsm sends me some gaskets.
I'm not going to bother doing anything with the underside of this thing besides gooping it up with seam sealer. We'll just weld the plates that are already there on the top side and i can grind down whatever to make it not be lumpy through the carpet.
What are those black wheels? They're cool...

Ronal.... somethings. I know Ben remembers. I won't have em.
Wow, legit Ronals...that's cool. I think they look sick...

So are you guys taking a fleet of MX6s to the challenge?

Ronal R9s.
I have them for sale on here. Pick 'em up!

Well, just two at the moment. Original plan was to take 4, but one of the guys sold their car to me. (This black car.) Tom's car is too rusty to deal with, so i'm crushing that one. The other participant isn't convinced he'll be able to build his car the way he wants on a Challenge budget, so he's out. (indymx6 on here)
So it's just mndsm and I, dansxr2 gets to be a member for his excellent choice in engines in his MX3.
Anything new on the MX6 front?
Not really at the moment. I'm in California right now. Will dig back into mndsm's car when I get back. Should go together quick.
Those Ronals would look nice on my '86 626 which is getting converted to 5-lug...

You know where i live. I'll cut you a deal.
In other news... this looks fun!
Yeah! More F2T fun! One day I will own one, but for now I just live vicariously through you!
On a side note, I just posted a $500 GT in the $2013 classifieds.
The valvetrain on that head wasn't great, and the cam was rusty, so i salvaged some parts off of some spare motors i had laying around.
It sure is motor-y!
Woot!
Probably about a day's worth of work cleaning and re-routing crap in the engine bay, then the motor can go back in.
Hey Swank, dont you have cats? Youre going to find poop on those mounts if youre not careful....
in other news, what youre doing is called winning...winning slowly, but winning none the less!
Hah!
My shop is 30 minutes north of where i live, no cats there!
Yeah, time really crept up on me this year what with the trip and MATG and all. Both cars will be there, but the red OG Swank Force One is going to be a hell of a crunch, and it remains to be seen if it shows up making huge power, or OMFGWTFBBQ power.
mounts in the litter box?
Why mounts in a box of sand?

Keeps them level when pouring Urethane, and minimizes mess, because no matter how well you think you've taped the bottom of the mount, some mixture will always escape through the tape.
Just a really cheap trick that makes the entire project a breeze. Including cleaning these horribly dirty and oily mounts, these were poured and set aside in less than 45 minutes.
And also:
BECAUSE RACE CAR
Ruh roh shaggy.
Swank Force One sounded kindof knock-y on the way home. All vital signs looked good though. AFRs about 0.3 points richer than normal though.
Hoping it's just the exhaust leak getting worse again or an angry lifter. Dont feel like doing bearings before challenge because break-in is a pain and leaves me less time to tune for 30psi.
Moar? MOAR.
Scraping off the RTV job done on the oil pan by Michael J. Fox.
Good enough for the gubment.
It wants a motor. So bad.
I fixed the vacuum system. (insert "I threw it on the ground!" reference.)
Removed a bunch of crap, re-worked a few things, and now we can swap injectors without removing the upper plenum!
Turbo no hit block. (At least... anymore.)
Things on the motor. Magical floating motor.
Dat floating motor. (By the way, hauling an H-type trans onto the motor by yourself is not really a fun task, and i have the wounds to prove it.)
Good... good.... let the hate flow through you.
Little dash of this, little dash of that, and BAM!!!!! This was a total berkeleying pain in the ass. The mounts i filled are so goddamn hard that there's NO flex in these at all. Makes getting everything lined up completely berkeleying awful. It's in, though, and this motor isn't moving for ANYTHING. I threw a 4 foot pry bar on it and tried to budge it, and nothing. Gonna be vibrate-y.
