I mean, most sbc's run longer poorly than most engines will ever run.
EDIT: I looked at the jug I used to top off the coolant the last time and I am not 100% sure it was new coolant. It may have been used.... f it. what's the worst that happens? It blows up? I'll just 4.8 swap it. The donor is sitting right behind it. (Don't tell the wife)
Just for giggles, you could try an FV410 PCV valve that has a fixed orifice. This helped cut a significant amount of oil consumption from my 350. Are your valve covers baffled inside??
In reply to SkinnyG (Forum Supporter) :
Yes they are baffled. Considering I only have consumption on the passenger side I doubt it's a pcv issue but I could be wrong.
Oh, yes. I recall that.
Did you do a compression test? It would be nice to only have to deal with the heads vs the block as well.
Well, it made it to work. Oil pressure still relatively high but the smoking has decreased. Put 9 gallons of 93 in on the way in. Jeebus this thing jumps when you nail it. 2nd and 3rd are enough to get you in trouble and it's still pulling past 5k.
And I think the ignition switch or wiring took a dump. No click, no activity to the starter. At work. Guess we are pushing it down the hill to start.
Brand new starter. It wasn't getting power to the solenoid switch side so I think it may be an ignition switch issue. Or possibly a rod failure or adjustment. It does lay some pretty gnarly 11's though.
Well, the smoking issue may have been resolved. Good pcv and hose, crab jetted down 2 sizes and new plugs that seal the heads. Runs strong now and the smoking is going away.
So I listed it for sale. Time to go. With the wife taking a pay cut and my silly interest in OLoA and gridlife time attack, this will fund a couple seasons.

Thanks. I love it and it's given me great memories but its time to go.
Wow that is priced to be quite enticing. If I hadn't recently purchased a 91, I'd be seriously tempted.

After changing plugs in 2.5 hours .... no.
Looks like new owner taking her home Saturday.
I know it sounds like you have a buyer, but for those of us that don't FarceBook what is/was the asking price?
Listed at $10,500 with ALL spares. Doors, wheels/tires, front end parts etc

Seems quite reasonable. Kinda glad I didn't see this in time...

I do not FB, but sometimes an ad link will work. This one did. FB tries to block often, but it doesn't always work. I used to be able to browse the marketplace pretty easily now it's harder.
Prices right, cool truck - whats next?
looking for another PU.......just cuz.....once you have one you wonder how you did without.
In reply to bobzilla :
Congrats on a quick sale.

We have the wife's Sierra we've had since 2006. Right now we are looking at replacing it due to rust.
