we gonna have some fun in MR :)
also touch base with Eric Eisele on the FB page. He's down by you and knows e30s!
That looks like my old E30, with more stickers on it. If you find a red shop rag stuck behind the radio, it is.

I'll probably be in there at some point haha, I'll let you know
Since I still don't have the motor I spent my time washing it to feel like I did something. And of course I have to rep my shop
Finally had some time to go get the motor. This is the last time it will look this clean
Small plot twist. This 330 fell into my lap super cheap, so now I am swapping an m54 into the e30. Hopefully I can still get this done for the beginning on the season.
Man, it's time for me to quit Rallycross lol, I cant keep up with the horsepower arms race here in DC these days!

I wouldn't be too worried about me, no experience or tire haha

An lsd should be a priority w/ the power levels of the m54b30, if it's not already installed or on the list. :)

The end of the year party is karting and then dinner/drinks up this way. I can't recall exactly which area, but I'm pretty sure it's a virginia facility a bit outside of DC. It's february 2nd if you wanted to come up to hang out and pick some peoples brains. I won't be there (wife's bday..), but I'm sure irish44j will be.

Definitely on the list. I'm sure that does more for lap times than the swap will.

Unfortunately I'll be out of town that weekend

That's a nice looking M20! Is it modified internally or just cleaned up?
Also, why not run the e46 instead of scrambling to get a swap done on time? I'm sure it moves the heavier car just fine for rallycross and would be significantly less work/troubleshooting
Is that a gas Benz or a diesel? We've run a couple diesels here in Texas and they require a certain technique. Super fun and about the most capable rallycross suspension I've driven.

It is just cleaned up with a new timing belt. That was done previous to my ownership. As to why swap it, I have just always wanted to do something like that, as an engineering exercise. Plus the e46 doesnt have a title, hood, or front bumper.
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
It is a diesel. It has been om603 swapped, but the owner has an om606 that might be getting thrown in.
Ive been in part collection mode. "new" m54b30 plus some eBay manifolds. Picking up the oil pan Saturday.
looks like what I've been doing .And I have the same manifolds on the way lol.
In reply to irish44j :
Haha, let me know how much you have to hammer them to get them installed
I'll definitely be following along. Would you mind documenting some of the difficulties you run into with the swap? There are plenty of 330's at junkyards around me, but the electronics of the m54b30 have made me hesitant to swap.
In reply to artur1808 :
Absolutely. I swapped an M54b30 into an e46 323 but obviously that was a lot more straightforward. However I think this should go pretty well. Kassel Performance is able to do all kinds of tuning with the DME's for these. The earlier DME's are much cheaper to tune than the later ones. We put the performance tune on that one and I believe it put down about 205 whp. Not too bad. Im hoping for around 210 since I should have a little better air flow.
