Woohoo!!! Congrats on a couple of counts!
Inspiring!
Good to hear, Dave. I got my MSM out of the garage the other day and it felt good. Mine's not quite as bonkers as yours, but it still goes pretty well. I can't imagine how the Spitfire must feel.
I drove it around this evening before it got dark to get a feel for it. It reminds me of a sport bike (much like the MSM does) as it has immediate power that just keeps building. You definitely feel like it would overpower the tires/suspension if you are too aggressive and I am certain it would be a handful on a wet road for sure. It is a fun car and I'm glad I built it. The MSM has the same engine but at least 100 more HP but also more weight. I'll get it out next week to compare them as next week the weather warms up again here.
Thanks Steve, it is kind of strange having it back. Since it was dropped off, I started a business around old cars and now have 9 of them so it was pretty easy to forget about the Spitfire and as it was being stored for free, so I was not in a rush with all the distractions. I'll be driving it around the next few weeks and give some impressions. But my first impression is just how fast it is. The Subaru lsd and cv axles are mandatory for something like this, the rear end is silent, planted and feels really solid. The acceleration makes it feel like the front end is not up to the task, not because I have had any issues so far but the thrust forward just is that strong. I am okay with that in something modern like my MSM, but was not expecting similar acceleration in my old Spitfire. Car is a hoot to drive, you just need to be careful since the only one controlling it is the nut behind the wheel.
