The mold for my new engine cover has been started using the original cover to make the mold from. The new one won't have louvers. The plan is to have a open hole instead and have it trimmed in polished stainless with stainless in the center.

Built this engine for my GLHS, but decided its been on the shelf long enough. Its going to get finished and put in the GTP....along with a new clutch and trans with a Quaife limited slip.
Engine cover is made. Now designing the "vent" hole and building it. Before I cut the hole.

Also learning how to and doing some interior work.
Got the inside panels done and installed. Used a fold out cup holder as part of the project. Not sure where they came from originally (aftermarket?) but I always find them in 80s Volvos.

My 951 has one as well (even had the Porsche crest for extra cheeze, heh). Only it was broken (they aren't terribly strong, so avoid the extra large sodas). Bought a new generic one Amazon for like $2. I did see a stainless steel version for Marine use that was about $20, but I didn't want the shiny look in my car.

Yes, I found the cup holders on-line. Think mine was from amazon or eBay. I saw the steel ones, but bought plastic to see if they even worked first. I liked the grey. If these become an issue, I'll get the metal ones.
Finished the install of my new VDO speedometer that runs on gps. It lights up but doesn't work. I need to recheck my wiring......
Continued on the vent today for the Consulier GTP engine cover. 9. Made a upper and lower piece from 3/4" plywood. Cut them apart at an angle with a jig saw to the size I wanted. Sort of a male/female now that will mate together to form the mesh. Used a upper to press over the lower with the stainless screen/mesh in the center. This hopefully will bend the screen to the shape I need. 10. The goal was to then use screws to press the upper down. Used the hammer hitting the upper wood piece, then tighten the screws a little, then hammer, then tighten. 11. After tightening as much as I could, I took all the screws out. ...and pulled the top piece of wood off. 12. Looks like it worked. 13. Set the trip piece on and marked where it needed trimmed. 14. Cutting the screen 15. Set it all on, looks like it will work. Will get some stainless bolts tomorrow and assemble it on the engine cover.
May I ask why you used a gps speedometer in place of one of the programmable units that you calibrate to the VSS?
I ask because I'm looking at both types for my build.

Just thought it would be easier. It works but not sure it is at the right calibration. Seems off.
The factory VSS for that generation of Turbo-Dodge wasn't very robust. The later Neon's (like yours) were better.
