the SCT X4 tuner can do it. It's $400, so I'm not going to get a first hand experience anytime soon, but the power gains from the tuner alone could be worth it.
I noticed after last weekends autocross some gear searching on the highway home. I haven't felt it since, but I think I'm getting closer to doing the JMOD and getting a tuner.
Currently I've got $600 and change left in my budget. If nothing else breaks between now and September, I might order one in, but I'm a little scared of messing with the computer much at 230k miles.
wait. Can I argue that a tuner is a tool, and if I tune it myself, I don't have to pay for it? Personally it seems kind of dickish, but I might as well ask. Not like I have the actual money for it either way
I've never been to the challenge, but in my opinion/interpretation it would be a tool.
(it's also been a long while since I've looked seriously at the rules...so I'm not up on current trends)

I'm not sure on the year of them. They're pretty much at the limits of what I can run before I need flares though.
I've been fighting like hell all morning getting the 275s onto the rear wheels. Didn't even realize there were 3 different tires on these wheels when I bought them. I'm not so happy about that right now at all.
At least now there are only 2 sizes and 2 tread patterns are the car now. 235 fronts and 275 rears.
The transmission is getting lost between 3rd and over drive. I don't trust the car to make it to the challenge at this point.
There's a rally cross coming up on the 20th, I'm hoping it survives. If it does, I'm going to get it inspected early and hope to trade this for a pickup truck on Craigslist before the winter price hike kicks in.
