Took the cell and radiator out about 7 times last night. Wanted to make sure everything was mounted on rubber isolators and then I tweaked the shroud design a touch. After that I had to throw on the tail lights for a "feel good" moment.
Ran my new brake hard line to the rear of the car and then drip bled the brakes. All four corners were dripping readily so I should be OK to get SWMBO to work the pedal for a final bleed. Started assembling more -16AN coolant lines. What a bear those things are.

But did you hear it run?
And that socket is messing with my head. Looks knob shaped, not socket.
I put about 30 miles on the engine.
The engine is the least of my concerns. As long as I'm providing spark and fuel it's going to run. I can provide both those things right now, but want the coolant system ready first. That should be going together the rest of the way tonight.
Bad case of vid clip anticipation....

Quoted for troof.
And I never question the motor. Just wether he had actually gotten to the point of hearing it run. Dave had made the comment he might hear it run that weekend mighthere it run that weekend
Coolant system completed, but discovered a pinhole in my radiator... Drained it all out and JB Welded it. I'll refill today and pressure test.
Ignition is completed. Fuel system is complete. Starter solenoid needs to be wired and throttle cable run. I took the rest of the week off from work to ensure it all happens prior to the weekend.
Starter spins but doesn't engage. Brand new starter...
She lives!

Youtube FTW! Wicked 'cam' you got in that thing....LOL.
How the hell does an engine without a camshaft have a cam lope?
And loved your enthusiasm man. That was a great video.
Sweet!!!!!! That thing sounds seriously good, Dave.

All about where those ports are placed....
I wish I had been able to catch how it started, but I was completely unprepared for how easy it fired up... Kevin built me one hell of an engine. Soon as the starter cooperated it fired.
It idles around 11.5:1 AFR, which I may lean out, or leave alone for now.
Today is all about buttoning things up - including running a throttle cable. I didn't have a throttle cam - so I made one.
Got a 4'x8' sheet of .030 aluminum to finish out the rear end then it's installing the seat permanantly, running the belts and putting in roll bar padding. Easy peasy.
Today was full of little jobs that suck. Like making a throttle cable and the various things that go along with it - like a cam.
I added 2 more rivets after this photo to tighten up that tiny gap.
And adding more rubberized brackets to hold fuel lines, power lines, brake lines and lines of coke.
Then it was FINALLY time to add the seat.
That's a feel good moment for sure.
Tomorrow is tinning in the rear end and adding some 90's to my exhaust system so it at least dumps out the side of the car right behind the passenger seat. I also have supplies to make my own steel-wool resonators if I have extra time. I likely won't.
I still have to cut a hole in the hood for the carb. Not even sure how to go about that correctly.
And you can see how tired I was based on posting the same thing twice...
I find that after a hardcore thrashing session, I need someone to nut and bolt check my work. Somehow I might have missed something, and I'd rather not find out the hard way.
May be overkill for you though.
Depends on what you mean by "overkill" (re: ...find out the hard way...)
Some guys are more methodical and coherent than me. I assume most people are, actually. The tbi really screwed up my memory.
I double check my work the next morning before I do anything new. I rarely find issues, but I'd rather play it safe.
I think I'm going to steal that method. Makes a lot of sense.
