Damn it.
Went back to checking connections. I could have sworn that connector clicked when I put it together.
How much you want to bet I have power on the top end now?

Hahahahahaa! I'll have to take 2 on driving it with power if that gets it going! I didn't want to be the one responsible for grenad'ing your engine if something went sideways (besides us while you were driving).
Now come over and fix my 90 silver car's A/C.
In reply to accordionfolder :
Ok. I have a new set of gauges. We can get that putting out cold air.
Yeah, I hate that it's my fault, but I also hate not being able to fix something. I'm stubborn that way.
Oh and it revs now. All the way to 9000, I cant hear the warning beeps and I'm not sure it has a rev limiter.
I took a video but my comments make it sound like a cheap porno so I decided not to post it. LOL!
Edit -- I laugh every time I hear myself. The world needs more humor.
Watching the tach and hearing that engine brings me right back to the excitement I felt every time I was merging onto a highway in my old RX8.
Damn those Wankels are addictive.

Hello I hope everyone is well. I have to ask.
Did you replace the Oil Metering Pump Position Sensor with a Throttle Positon Sensor?
There seems to be some debate as to whether that is possible and wether or not it will work and here you appear to have done it.
I ask because my beloved RX8 OMP Position Sensor has snapped and apparently you cannot purchase the sensor on its own. I have seen arguments on line regarding Throttle Position Sensor method but you are the first person who appears to have done it that I have seen.
I know this was over 2 years ago but do you remember which Throttle Position sensor you used? and is the car still running fine with it?
Please let em know all all the best.
Pyro drove it to work today.
So it still runs fine.
You will have to look at throttle sensors in the junkyard or if you know a good auto parts person. It will be a ford or mazda.
I had 2 engines so I used parts off both.
I found it somewhere out on the web but didn't write down. Or look at Mazdatrix.com
It's a spring loaded potentiometer so there has to be another one.
I googled miata tps and got close, I think I saw it on a b series engine.
Looked at my Escort tps, not that one.
In reply to Bent-Valve :
Thank you for your advice and help. I saw one forum post state the the TPS is off the KL series of Mazdas (Fords) MX6, MX3, 626, 929 & Millennia. I have tried to find TPS for those but no luck and the ones I did find didnt look they they fit.
I have ordered two off ebay ...from China (I know, I know last resorts) but I do have a spear OMP which I have taken the Position Sensor off and fitting it to my one in the mean time but I am not getting the issue you had where it wont rev above 4K (still in limp mode) so I am trying to clock it following the images you had, no luck yet but I will keep trying.
Thank you once again
Mostly the clocking is just to tension the spring. Figure out which way it turns and then make sure its turned far enough to fit into the slot. Then when you line the bolts up it's right.
There it almost zero resistance so if it hard to turn you twisted it the wrong way. Being upside down under the car it's easy to get it backwards, ask me how I know.
Today I sat down in Smoky and ticked the key over. The 13B rumbled to life, buttery smooth. The a/c kicked in and I slid the shifter into 1st. Letting out on the clutch I started down the driveway.
Many of you have done this same drive. The last drive before you sell a car you built.
Several hours and a few hundred miles later I took the last pics, posted here, before Devin got in and started for home.
And yes I was scanned CL on the way home.
You'll need to log in to post.
