Awwwwwwwwwwwwww yiss.
Can't wait to post this build thread over at M.net and see what they think about a black interior in a 2000 SE.
The haul:
You can fit an entire Miata interior quite easily in a Cherokee. Probably three if you got a little creative.
There were a couple guys poking through the Miata when i first got there. They left, i cleaned house. There's nothing in the interior save for a bunch of wires. I took all the hardware as well.
But... did you get any rust with your purchase? It's unclear.
I saw some rust on those rotors. You lied.

Ok good point. Good thing i have new non-rusty rotors already.

Haha. Cool project. Swanky.
My boat anchors that are going to ruin the car and keep me from winning the HPDE have arrived.
Looking forward to seeing how they look on the Barney Miata.
Win the hpde? I do not think it means what you think it means.
I'm super jelly you can find cars in the junkyard to pull parts off of.
Wow, I wish I'd seen this before I went off on the "omg it's a classic don't change anything" folks on m.net. I woulda ranted harder! Good luck - watching with interest. I wonder if this could be a gateway car into rallycross... Hee hee!

Unfortunately... tires are kindof a problem. It'll be a month or two.

I took some E36 M3 on another forum for buying these wheels instead of some of the lighter options. They acted like an extra 2lbs a corner was going to ruin the car. I'm just making fun of them. I have no designs on wheel to wheel racing this thing, and with what i'm doing to it, it'll be lumped in SSM for autox, where i'll get annihilated anyways.
I really don't care. I wanted strong, good-looking, and cheap wheels. These were all of those things.

Most of the guys in that thread are actually trolling and making fun of the M.net mindset.
Geez, I thought you guys were in the know on how to do HDPE.
You MUST have a timer. You MUST set the fastest time in your run group. If you do not set the fastest time in your run group you MUST have a list of excuses.
These wheels are obviously too heavy for this car. His HDPE lap times WILL suffer.
He will NOT be able to drive "Flat Out" with these.

Rob R.
The wheels will be fine. You just need some Hoosiers for the track day brah.

I think those wheels look nice. I don't know when Jong Bloed wheels became so cheap. I assume these cheaper wheels from JB are produced somewhere in or near China. Accurate?

Yep, China. Though i'm not sure that they aren't all from China.
These were so cheap because they didn't hit target weight and kindof screwed their distributors. I know Keith probably didn't have a great time working with them.
Would i rather have a set of 6ULs? Absolutely. But i don't want to pay almost twice as much for them for this particular car at this particular moment, and the 6ULs aren't available right now anyways.
The whole point of buying this car was "I can have it NOW." If i have to wait for a part to come in stock, i'm just going to order a different part.
Yah, I'm slow, but I sorta figured that part out. Even small minds can contain worthwhile knowledge. Except mine, maybe...
So, does this mean you won't be running led strobe rocker panel lighting to go along with the chrome Swarovski encrusted style bar? I was so looking forward to that...

It seems like, at least for a time, JB wheels were made in California. That might still be true for their more costly wheels. I remember seeing a set once in Hot Rod magazine on an early Mustang that really looked nice.

Sorry to disappoint....
This car is getting the Boss Frog Clearview that i already have left over. If i decide i need to upgrade, it'll be straight to a Spec Miata cage.

They have wheels that sell for $3000+ a set. I'm guessing those might still be made in the US. Miata guys won't pay for that, though, so having them made in China was likely the only option.
Yes, dealing with Jongbloed was quite an experience. I think they have two lines, the forged US stuff and the flow formed Chinese. And yes, there were quite a few changes from the time we initially laid out a bunch of money and the time the wheels showed up six months late. The majority of road wheels are made in China - including 6ULs. There are some very good factories there.
The good news is that they're tough, cheap and pretty. If you're into that sort of thing. They weigh about the same as the TR Motorsport wheels that are fairly common at track days, and have yet to totally ruin a car
I had the TRMs on the base 2000 i had briefly earlier this year. They completely ruined the car.
Also... Keith, didn't you start some huge Sport Brake thread on M.net? I have the rotors, calipers, brackets, and pads.
Wondering what to do about booster and master, or if i even need to swap anything.
Yup. It's also in How To Build a High Performance Miata.
A popular upgrade is the MSM or non-ABS Sport booster along with a 1" master from a 929. Gives a nice firm pedal. Or you can keep the 15/16" master from the Sport. Stock 1990-00 is 7/8".
If you bolt the Sport calipers on with that 7/8" master, you will get a slightly softer pedal than stock because the piston sizes are larger. Doesn't bother everyone.

I looked at Jongbloeds site, couldn't find a damn thing worth anything for the corolla... I'm gonna go back to work albinos....
I don't think they have these on their site.
Check FM's site. These should be on there in 15x8-10. There are at least two center bores available, not sure if FM has both.
Got some more things delivered.
Looks like the car doesn't have ABS, so i'm going to order the non-ABS 929 master cylinder. There's some... adapter fitting i need though, right? It's got something weird?
Care package.
Hubs.
Hopefully last looks at this awful interior.
NB1 glovebox sag.
Top needs to go in the trash, pronto.
