Never too early to start thinking. Better yet, start reaching out. Don't be too proud to expect every school to come and look at you- look where you want to go now, and start making contacts.

In other words, don't settle on someone else work, make it happen.

I had a 94 XLT Supercab manual with the 4.0. Thing was a beast back in the day.

The Duratec is something else. Super little motor. Stock it is very good. You can mod the crap out of it.

200 hp is just bolt-ons and a tune away.

And don't limit it to just schools. Figure out what you want to do with your life. Where you want to work, the life you want to live. This will change as you get old, but figure out where you want to start.

Then talk to the those companies and make contacts there. You would be surprised at how receptive company management is when high schoolers planning for their future reach out. Ask them where they recommend you go to college and what to focus on.

I have a degree from a, at the time, top 10 Mechanical Engineering program. It didn't help me with crap to get where I wanted to go. Understand what college is. It is a tool to get you where you want to go. Figure that out, ask who is there that makes the decisions where you should attend and what you should study, then pursue that course. Your life coming out of school will be much easier.

Put the work in up front for a more successful end result.

Long time no post. While I haven't done much to the ranger, I wanted to update on something else really big that has happened to me. For the last few weeks and for the rest of the summer I got a job at a custom car garage. It's one of the greatest things that I've ever been a part of. Every day I go in and learn something new. The shop has a lot of cool cars as well. Just an example, I spent today rebuilding a 2.4 ferrari v6; and yesterday I learned how to fiberglass.

I'm going to start posting more regularly as I start working more on my beetle and a possible 2018 challenge car

For the mean time, it's good to be back
