The gimp is up and getting mentally prepared for battle!
The subject under discussion is indeed blue paint and whether or not it has any metallic in the pigment. It does not, since my opinion is that classic cars tend not to have metallic in their paint, especially Volvos. Being a purist, I thought I would stick to factory norms.
Actually, truth be told, Mrs NOHOME picked the paint color and this is what she wanted. If it was up to me, after painting the engine compartment, I would have graffitied the car and drove it.

Had to look that up..
Would have been fun for a year or two while I sort the details.
Maybe chalkboard finish would be more my style since I have no drawing abilities and I am lazy
Cause this is kinda the reaction I expect at the Volvo meet when it arrives
Is this blue similar to the midnight blue that Mercury was sporting on 1972 Montego's ? IMHO the finest factory metal flake I've seen.
Its ford blue!
Please paint the engine Volvo red or something. Ford blue or black would just disappear in there.
But looking good.

You were right the first time.
The boss had a look when she got home and loves it. Case closed.
It is not a flashy colour but somehow it suits a Volvo from the seventies.
Mama happy = job well done. I'd go Ford grey on the block - hell, you can barely see any of it once the engine is together and in the car anyway.
