Hi all,
I bought a lightly damaged E46 BMW for my wife from the local Copart yard here in WA state. I've had a salvage motorcycle inspected and they didn't seem to care much but I'm wondering if anyone here has first hand knowledge of how picky they are when inspecting cars?
It has a baseball sized dent on the rear end that I don't care to repair but the statutes say it has to be "undamaged." It's a 15 year old car and some normal wear/tear/dings/dents seems like it would be acceptable to me.
Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!
JT
Last time I had one done all they really care about are the main operational parts. Lights, Horn, no missing body parts that sort of thing. If everything works as it should and the interior is intact as with all airbags then I see no reason it shouldn't pass.
Make sure it runs well also. They got a little testy because mine kept on wanting to die because I forgot to change the fuel filter. Old gas and rusty particles usually don't help in that issue.
Had a whole box of the cheap clear ones that I'd change out every couple of days till the rust bits were finally gone.
Ran great after that.

Thanks Brad, that makes me feel a bit better about it. Everything works and it runs great. No airbags popped so that shouldn't be an issue.
Anyone else been the process recently?
Thanks again.
