This car's gonna kill me!

Another in the grand tradition of getting the thread started before getting the car.

So, ya'll may remember I asked for help with diagnosing a no spark condition with an LS swapped Elky.  Mom got it fixed, she's bringing it home Monday.  I'll be picking it up... soon?  Gotta go to Minnesota to lay the wife's grandma to rest this upcoming weekend, maybe the weekend after?

I've written before about the trials and tribulations this El Camino has given me.  My uncle bought the car new, was the only vehicle he ever kept as he had vehicular ADHD and would trade his brand new cars in after having them for between 6-18 months (benefits of being a real estate lawyer in Florida.) Mom worked for him for forever and always liked the car, so when he finally decided to sell it she bought it.

I drove it for two or three years during my first enlistment. Kind of hated it cause my uncle got some hack to do a bunch of crappy work to the car and I had to repair it all.  Left me stranded more than once.

Turned it back over to mom when I got my truck, eventually her husband swapped in the LS motor.  I feel her husband hacked it up some as it has this horrible cowl hood, as such the truck intake has to go as the stock hood looks so much better.  He also installed some ugly floor shifter on it that I'm definitely going to want to get rid of.

But this is it.

Also, I kinda want to get rid of the wheels, but I'm not sure what fits the car better than those.

Solid.  Maybe a bit too '70s?

Rallye's are solid, but done a lot:

Maybe similar to 90s Impala SS wheels?

You can fit really decent size wheels on those.  There was a Car Craft story that included one way back in the '90s, I think for "Real Street Eliminator."  Or you can just watch The Mexican (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0236493/) for verbal references that are fully pertinent.

Oh, and it's a hotrod.  If nothing were "hacked," it would be something else.

I think Rota Slipstreams or Enkie RFP1's would look great on these.

You know my first thought is now you'll have a reliable GM product to drive while you swap the engine in the Ford truck.

Hell yeah another Elky!

I think Cragars, torqe thrust, and rally sports always look too vintage for the G-body. I like those Corvette wheels though. I don't know what these are but they look awesome on a g-body:

They look similar to the originals, but without the black: (I think these also look great)

I like these Center Lines too:

Enkei's, kinda, 5-spoke American Racing Cross Fires:

The Rotas, being 5-spoke, have a lot of similarities to a lot of stuff out there.

Not my favorite body style, but any elks is better than none.
And that's one is sharp looking, and LS too!!!

Rock IT laugh

With the silver, cowl hood, and LS, I think the Impala SS. But you'd have to go aftermarket, or adapters for bolt pattern.

Black basket weaves with silver rims are also great on G-body. Just search for pictures of Grand Nationals....it's good.

Yeah, solid choice.  Not sure I'd enjoy cleaning them, though.
