So much want, but the roof looks like it's going to cave in and the interior needs to be replaced.

That's neat. I could fit my Kei truck in the back and a motorcycle in the bed of that.

Agreed. The scissor jack holding up the roof is not a good sign.  It basically needs a total gut-renovation which will be no small amount of work.  Definitely more than I can deal with right now.  That said, the price reflects that need.  You're basically buying an E450 that has a rare shell and is already titled as an RV, which has a value in many states.

Very good point on the RV title, when I bought my mini bus I was lucky the VT loophole was still open. Since my bus is E450 based I couldn't register it easily in CT as it was considered a commercial chassis, even had to get commercial insurance for it. CT make you do an inspection to get it declared an RV which I didn't want to deal with.

BUT! If a mini bus Ford is an E350 chassis you can register it like a normal van. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Aw crap, I didn't notice the jack.  Maybe someone knows how to connect the van roof and camper in a proper way.

I thought it was actually homemade but after a search these are around however they aren't as cheap as this one. I found this one  Then I saw this bill online to fix a roof, obivously there are things that do not apply but still a lot of money to fix a roof.

r/GoRVing - Roof replacement cost - $195/hr

I don't think it's an original build problem but a major repair problem. I'd assume the entire roof structure will need significant repair and all of the roof panel covering replaced.  It was made of wood to begin with, so not exactly rocket surgery. Just need a large covered space to do the work.  My WAG is the roof could be DIY-recovered with plywood and a few layers of fiberglass and epoxy.  Might be extensive water damage. Might be falling tree/branch damage. Maybe they mis-judged the height and ripped the A/C unit off.  It looks like they started to dig into and realized it needed more than they could deal with.

The one in RI for $11K looks like a much better deal.  At least on the surface. It depends on what else it needs.  The information in the ad is a bit thin on whether or not everything works and if the roof is solid.  That motorized folding ramp is really cool.

1999 Ford funmover $2,675 NMNA The rust underneath is concerning and needs a new transmission but is really cheap. I wonder what the cost would be to tow to Cleveland laugh

My dumbass looks at that roof repair quote and sees only $1500 in parts, then says I could do that...
