It's not.
OK, so I wonder about this whole "patina" thing.....why? Why do you want your car to look like it was just pulled from a farm field, and not the way it was when new? Is it the cost of paint these days? (which I know is really spendy!)
I just don't get it......maybe it's because I'm "old" but when we got a car like this the first thing we did after getting it running and driving properly was get it in primer, fix all the rust and get a good coat of shiny on it!
In reply to MiniDave :
I can see patina like having a broken-in denim jacket. But to each their own, of course.
I don’t mind the patina here. I’d swap the wheels, though.
Leave the patina...refurbish the wire wheels...install some light modern 103HP engine and 5 speed ...go have some touring fun.
Patina is like scars. Patina is character. It shows a life well lived but Master loves me enough to protect me with clear or some kind of shine juice.
Restore the Minx, paint it shiny silver or some shade of blue with clear coat, and you're just another funny looking Import people don't recognize.
But that's just me ....
Sounds to me like you're too cheap to get it painted properly.......just my opinion, and like tailpipes - every car has one - or more!
It 's like having a really nice pair of shoes with worn out soles, you just slap some duct tape on em or do you take them to the shoe repair guy and get new soles put on and a nice polish job?
