I've had the car about 3-years & the full build thread is here.
I really love the car, but I don't enjoy autocrossing it - I think RWD just isn't my thing. Nor do I drive it much at all - the van is more practical/comfortable, and I'd have to move it to get the Miata out anyway...
The cars is 100% mechanically sound. I'd hop in it & drive it anywhere(if I were 20-years younger) without any concerns of reaching your destination.
It has a pretty decent STS setup on it, though certainly not National-level. The current alignment is -4.1* F/-3.2* R with pretty close to 0* toe at both ends.
Here's a quick rundown of everything off the top of my head.
The engine is stock, with the following work done in the last ~3k miles/3-years:
Other new parts:
Spare parts:
The car has a/c, but I was indecisive about keeping it vs. removing it, so I never charged it. I'd presume at the least it'll need a vacuum pulled & whatever leaks are found addressed, but I have no clue if the compressor works.
When I built it, I took the best parts from 2.5 cars for the interior, so it's pretty nice. It's definitely not perfect though. The gauge surround is cracked & was glued onto the dash by a PO, and there's 1 or 2 cracks in the dash.
The top doesn't have any rips/holes, but it's older & the rear(plastic) window is pretty hazy. The weatherstripping above the doors needs replaced.
The fuel door latch doesn't return after you open it, so you have to pop the trunk, reach up by the filler & push the manual-release trigger to latch it shut.
At some point it had a really cheap respray & it shows. There's a slight wrinkle in the RF fender(but I have a good spare). There was standing water in the trunk at some point & I had to replace the battery tie-down mount because it rusted. The plug in the spare tire sump also fell out, but I'm pretty sure it's in a parts box.
Prices seem crazy right now, but I like you guys/gals, so the price is $4000 for everything.

Street as in around town? It's not bad at all, other than being dwarfed by almost every other vehicle. On the Highway it's turning 4krpm at about 73mph. There's no cruise though, nor any insulation/wrap on the header, so your right leg gets a little warm. Of course fixing the a/c would help that.

Where in TX? We're heading through on our way to Alamogordo, NM next month.
In reply to Pete Gossett (Forum Supporter) :
Yeah, I was referring to it's suspension. How are it's manners on the street around town?
Will the spring rates try to break your spine when you hit a pothole?
How would it function as a dd for a young driver who also likes to autocross?
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
Oh it's great around town. It rides better than stock, since it never hits the bump stops. I have gone over some speed bumps & never had clearance issues. IIRC, it's around 4-1/4" from the pinch welds to the ground.
I think replacing the weatherstripping above the door windows would mostly alleviate the leaks there & I believe Moss has them for a decent price. Otherwise it would be fine for someone younger & more flexible to DD :-). I did remove the stereo & speakers(they were all junk), but the wiring is still there.
Didn't you just sell an NB though?
Recently sold mine as well. It didnt make sense anymore as I had kids and had to haul them around every day and I had a more interesting and much faster racecar. When it had sat undriven other than around the neighborhood time and was starting to need work from just sitting, I knew it was time.
But Man do I still miss it.
In reply to Pete Gossett (Forum Supporter) :
Nope. I still have the NB.
I won't let my daughter drive that car. It's a beast.
In reply to Apexcarver :
Oh I'm definitely going to miss this one too. It's the first/only project car I've actually completed(as far as finishing all the work/mods I'd initially planned for it), and it turned out exactly like I'd hoped.
In reply to echoechoecho :
I emailed you my # through the board. Lmk if you didn't receive it & want to talk about the Miata.
Edit: unfortunately the seller had something come up & had to back out. The car is available again!
Deposit received, sale pending.
24-hours & 5-minutes from my original post.
It’s that kind of market right now.
If I’d posted that for sale locally at that price it would have been sold in under 10 minutes
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine :
Buy it for $4k & that leaves you enough room to have it shipped & still profit!
In reply to Pete Gossett (Forum Supporter) :
Ok, I'm interested.
I'll talk with my daughter tomorrow.
If we made a deal, how soon would you need it gone?
You'll need to log in to post.
