I like the speedometer: you're going 20 when you're stopped.

Not a lot of those things around. I think that's a bargain at that price.

Me too. If I hadn't just bought a race car, and had a job, I'd be all over it.

I'm fascinated by these, yet I can't help but think it's a bit like combining the looks of a Porsche(sorta) with all the performance of a Beetle.

So just like a 356 or a 912 or the other 912 or sort of like a 914... and the first Beetle was actually a porsche since VW wasnt a company yet.

In reply to RossD:

Exactly. Though I should have added "without the P-car tax".

I got a ride in a nice 912 several years ago. It was just on the street, but he was pushing it pretty hard, and had that satisfying "slow car driven fast" feel to it. I have no idea if the Puma would share that characteristic.

You'd certainly get used to explain it's not a kit-car to people.

It certainly has better proportions than most kit cars. I dig it. So is that the normal beetle front suspension or is it the Super Beetle? From some googles, it appears to be a Macpherson strut like the super beetle.

That would make it compatible with the 944/924/Audi parts that the Super Beetle was blessed with...

EDIT: Scratch that MacStrut comment. Being a 1981, it's based on the Brasilia chassis. Now I kinda want a two door Brasilia...

It's a cool car, and is much better proportioned than your average kit-car. If you consider it roughly the equivalent of a 912, at that price it seems like a pretty good deal.

I'm guessing they are fiberglass?

Yes fiberglass. This is a type one variant and not super bug, as far as I know. So 356 would be the only honest comparison

Don't think so. Brasilia is like a type 3/4 so would have a type 4 engine.

That might be pretty sweet with a 2.0 engine.
