Can’t believe I’m putting this up for sale, but my automotive ADHD has kicked in and I’m ready to move on to the next shiny object. With the help of some very talented friends (and a firehose of cash), this former SSGT/AS Camaro was brought back to life after sitting dormant in Ohio for 14+ years. There’s nothing more expensive than a cheap race car and after all was said and done, there’s not one part that wasn’t replaced, rebuilt, or improved. The motor in the car develops around 320 hp at the crank and is understressed with the box chipped at 6,500 RPM. It’s been stone cold reliable, but still quick enough to get the adrenaline pumping and even netted me two podium finishes. This car is a great way to get into road racing, or have a fully-prepped, reliable track weapon for HPDE events. I’m asking $18,000 for the car ready to race with the installed 305.

Included are three SCCA logbooks dating back to when it was originally built for SSGT in 1991 by Danny Kellermeyer’s shop. I have receipts and documentation for everything done to it since my ownership. I raced exclusively in SCCA’s American Sedan class (which continues to grow year over year), but you could also run NASA’s American Iron or other series/sanctioning bodies. I did not race last year due to a death in the family, but the car was fully prepped and ready to go to the track. If it doesn’t sell before, I’ll do the annual tech and have it ready to race at the May Sprints in Watkins Glen this year.

Want a bit more wham-bam under the hood? I also have a full-tilt boogie 307, brand new and never fired, available separately that should put out around 440 hp at the crank (build sheet to follow). That engine is built to twist to 7,500+ RPM and will make this car Nationals competitive with the right driver behind the wheel. I’ll sell the motor alone for $12,000, which is less than the build cost. The buyer of the car will get first right of refusal, but the motor isn’t for sale separately until the car is sold.

Finally, if you need a way to bring it home, I’ll also be selling my 24’ InTech Lite aluminum enclosed trailer which is fully optioned out – upper/lower cabinets, 10K capacity with Torsion axles, LED lighting, extruded aluminum floor, 5000# winch with wireless remote, power tongue jack, etc. This is the nicest trailer I’ve ever owned by far. The buyer of the car will get first right of refusal to purchase the trailer for $18,000. Same as the 307 race motor, the trailer isn’t for sale separately until the car is sold.

Specs for the car are as follows:

No title, because race car.

I stopped adding up receipts a few years back at more than twice the asking price, and that was without the hot-snot 307 motor. You can buy this for a fraction of what it will cost in time and money to build one yourself and go racing tomorrow. Located in Webster, NY 14580, just north of Rochester. Feel free to email me at Rotaryracer at the Hotmail, or message me via GRM and we can setup a time to talk live. I’m also happy to talk about the American Sedan class, recommendations towards getting your SCCA competition license, and any other race-related questions.

More detailed pictures coming when I get it out of storage in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks!

This thing is sweet, enjoyed reading through the build thread. I love a good rehab of an old mothballed race car, and you did a great job with it, good luck with the sale.

Thanks guys!  I'll have better pics of the interior, underside, engine bay, etc when I get it pulled in the shop.  The replacement FIA harness is en route and I need to mount the front/rear cameras, then she'll be ready to roll.

One thing I forgot to mention (and will probably only post on GRM, since you're my people) - I'd be open to interesting vehicle trades for some or all of the package above, even if with money added on my end.  Cash is king, but I'm enough of a vehicular omnivore that I'd be open to discussion.

Idling before going into storage at the end of last year...sounds a lot meaner at full song.  laugh
