My daughter is looking for a new commuter. For some unknown reason, she trusts you guys more than the average CL poster or car lot, and asked me to post here. Go figure! 
She's hoping for sub $10k, less than 50K if possible. Gas sipper or hybrid. Reliability counts.
I should note this is for her husband, and he's 6'4".

it's a plain vanilla choice, but i'd go for a Chevy Sonic via Hertz Car Sales, if her husband can fold himself in 
Current inventory in Atlanta starts at about $8,500 and up. Use coupon code HCSLOYAL on their site. The 1.4 liter turbo versions are a little pricier, but add a Trifecta tune for some performance. If you find one with low enough miles, it'll still have a bit of a factory warranty left to boot.
Does Hertz sell canoes?
If you can find a Mazda5 that hits all the buttons.

as a person who is 6'5" and owned one...I know. 
How far is his daily commute? Does he take mostly surface streets or the interstate? If he meets certain criteria, a just-off-lease Nissan Leaf could be the least expensive option.
Leaf if range is within his needs. Volt or Prius if it's not.
