1979 Triumph Spitfire Convertible  Located in Colorado Springs

Very rust free!

This is an excellent condition Spitfire, ready to be enjoyed. It has received a lot of recent service to make sure it is in excellent driving condition. It has lots of upgrades like a 2 barrel Weber carburetor and an alternator conversion. The hard top and interior are in good shape as well, though the armrest has some tears that are covered with a patch, and the drivers seat and soft top have a few small tears. Hard top is excellent.  Comes with toneau cover.

It runs well with the larger 1500cc engine (earlier models had 1100s and 1300s), plus this one has the larger Weber carburetor and a header to make more power. It steers, and handles very well – part of the benefit of a small, lihgt car and what made classic sports cars so popular in the first place. The suspension is very tight – no play or clunks or rattles. Brakes work well, but are non-power assist so take a slightly harder push than power brakes. It was stored for several years, so just had several thousand dollars worth of maintenance done to make sure it is road ready – compression test showed engine to be in excellent shape, most of the cooling system has been replaced, carburetor adjusted for altitude, etc. It is ready to be used and enjoyed, though could use little TLC things if a new owner wishes. The fact the paint and body are in such good condition is very impressive. In most other parts of the country, these British sports cars tended to rust away very quickly, or weather poorly if stored outside. Luckily, because they made so many of these, parts are easily available and mostly inexpensive. An economical entry into classic car ownership that should continue to gain value in the future.
