John Paul Jr. was the second owner of this early-production Shelby 427 Cobra. While he mysteriously disappeared in 2001, the car he used to win an SCCA Northeast division championship is very much accounted for and for sale.

Paul is best known for class wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring. He also served 15 years in jail for drug trafficking and shooting a Federal witness. Paul disappeared in 2001 after being sought for questioning in regards to the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend.

Back to the car, Shelby had built it originally for the road, but its first owner soon converted it over for track use, with genuine Shelby racing parts. The Cobra retains many of the original components, including the owner’s manual, which has handwritten notes from its early years.

Find this 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra up for sale at Collectors Garage, with an asking price of $1,450,000.

John Paul Sr, not Junior.  Junior did prison time for not revealing his father's whereabouts
