If you like the vintage bikes you should check out the YouTube channel for Wheels Through Time. The videos are long but they take bikes that have been siting for a long time and get them running again. Also if you are in Maggie Valley, NC the Museum is worth checking out.
Most vintage bike values are very reasonable right now. My Velocette Venom is a genuinely quick (If quirky) bike, and nice ones can be found for under $10k.
Looking through the prices, yeah, seems like you can get something cool for a fair price.
I had a CBR600 F2 back in the day. Wonder what a clean one brings now....
