+1 for a BMW 2002 tii, they are a great first classic car and handle fantastic. Try and look for one with a great interior as that can be a pain to replace.

I'm sorry if someone already said this, but use caution when you are planning a project and what it's finished value may be. I've seen many big budget, and very well done, MG's go up for sale that won't fetch the expected price.

Very good advice there. Some words of wisdom: If you want to make money on restoring cars, restore other peoples cars. It can be very difficult to buy and restore/fix up a car and then make money on it, especially in this economy.
