Called up my usual tubing supplier today and asked for some 1.5" .095. Guess it's a special order. They stock .120 wall, but I don't need anything that heavy. Anybody got a connection in eastern/central Mass?

Try Turner Steel in West Bridgewater? If not, maybe they know another place locally...

Turner or mid city steel are my usual go to, but they only have .120 in stock.

I figure Turner must have a supplier of their own for the materials they don't stock. Can't hurt to ask em.

I did. Special border $128 a stick which is 30 more then .120 Not a fan of paying more for less, but I guess that what they mean when they say adding lightness. SCCA requires .120 on cars over 2700 pounds without driver. Not that I'm building this particular cage to go SCCA racing with this car, but their guidelines are good to go by. I'm shooting for a finished weight on this car of 2000#, but it might end up as high as 2200 depending on which engine tranny package I settle on.

how much do you need? I know I have some here but not 100% on wall thickness of length.

Normally I go with Marmon but Dave beat me to it.

Dubois isn't too far away and the price on the website is cheap compared to the $6 a foot I was quoted. I'll definitely give them a call when they open. Thanks Tony, you always seem to come thru for me.

These are the cage recs for our hillclimb association:

1.25” x .120” or 1.38” x .090” under 1500 lbs.

1.38” x .120” or 1.50” x .090” under 2500 lbs.

1.50” x .120” or 1.75” x .090” over 2500 lbs.

My RX7 is getting the 1.75 x .090 despite being around 2,200 lbs right now and getting lighter. The weight gain isn't that much and the big tubing will only be use for the main 6-point. The rest will be 1.50 x .090. I'd rather have the extra safety and insurance that my cage will exceed pretty much any requirements.
