I have got to look through my car show pictures. It was at an AMC meet in Atlanta like 15 years ago. The round lights were gone and so were the hood pods. He made a custom split-grill (like the original Javelin) with the lights hidden (Charger style). The rears had the sunken square lights. Both bumpers were removed and the valences were molded into aggressive shapes. It was bright red and had 17" 5-spokes on it. It looked sharp.
Like this, only with the hood done, too:
Of course, cutting the fenders and going red/white/blue is always an option:
I personally like this Mad-Max channeled road-racer:
This seems akin to a cute girl with a huge nose. Sure, it's a bit awkward, but the overall package is attractive. +1 for the Donahue/Penske treatment. I'd hit it.
That yellow road racer is the E36 M3.
This is the ugliest car AMC ever built.....

You guys lack imagination. I'd love a Marlin with the rat rod treatment....suede black....velocity stacks coming through the hood, flame thrower exhaust, Rob Zombie blaring from the stereo.

Marlins are no worse looking than similar vintage cars. Fastbacks were en vogue then...
The Marlin was a great looking car. The '66 Charger actually "borrowed" the look.
The Marlin is great looking. Especially that Yellow one, hubba hubba!
I'd say the ugliest AMC was the Concord Sedan with the half-vinyl top and SX/4 AWD setup. Ewwwwww.
