Since we live in Indiana, and the modus operandi in the winter is to apply as much salt to the roads as humanly possible, the rear axle housing and associated brake components are returning to mother earth.
My questions are:
Are the 4x2 rears the same? With the exception of r/p ratios of course.
Do any of you guys have a line on a complete rear for sale?
thanks,
mark
Toyota is dumb when it comes to their rear axle assemblies. Not only is 2wd not the same, but the 4cyl 4x4 is different than the V6 4x4, and the regular cab is different than the extended cab, and they come with either a 4.10 or 4.56 ratio, so you need a lot of info if you're changing the complete rear axle. If you just need backing plates, I don't have an interchange on them, but I do have one for the drums. This might narrow it down a bit:
4 Runner '86-02
T100 '93-98 4x2, 1/2 ton
T100 '93-98 4x4
Tacoma '95-04 4x4
Tacoma '98-00 4x2, Pre Runner
Tacoma '01-04 4x2, Double Cab (4 Dr)
Tacoma '01-04 4x2, reg and Xtra cab, Pre Runner
Toyota Pickup '86-95 4x4
Tundra '00-02
nope the 2wd axles are spring under and 5 lug and, varying by year, are slightly different widths (although its usually not enough to make a difference). i think there are some 6 lug 2wd axles that are in the v6 and turbo 2wd trucks but they are pretty rare and still spring under.
yea i should clarify that im talking about 86-94 pickups
Sorry guys, more info would help.

i would say your best bet is a junkyard or maybe you can get a used one from some offroad guys, and since your 4wd and will want matching gearing front and rear you could always swap your 3rd member into the new axle so you know its the same gearing, and you will know that its in good condition
