For those considering (like me) a 1UZFE swap, here's some really cool pics.
An SC400 oil pan is a rear (well, sort of a center) sump and a direct bolt on.
A Tundra pan puts the sump further back, but I haven't confirmed yet that it will fit the earlier block. According to a guy on the lextreme Web site, he built a 4.7 cast iron block motor to go in an SC400 and the SC 1UZ pan bolted right on the 2UZ.
For comparison, an LS1:
Me being the enabler type: http://www.monster-performance.com/modules/shop/index.php?cPath=22 He's based here in the Great Satan. There's Thor Racing in the UK and two or three companies down in Oz making these as well. There was a guy out of Taiwan selling them on eBay but his deal seems to have fizzled out.
There is a difference: the Oz kits include a custom cast 1 piece bellhousing and an external slave cylinder. Thor's kit is adapters that bolt to an automatic trans bellhousing. The Monster kit is a plate welded to an automatic bellhousing which is then machined to spec, he makes them to order. There is an issue with release bearings, it seems most times the kits from any of them come with a flat faced bearing on an annular slave cylinder that has a tendency to grind away the fingers on the PP. There is a radius faced bearing that fixes the problem.
what about this one?
