I need help getting them from Boston to York. Please let me know if you can help. I still need 14s if anyone can hook me up.

Did I just get pooped on?!? I wish I had the time to surf clown pr0n, but I'm to busy building it... "Hot Import Tuner Compact Type-R-spec y0 Magazine" Yep, they turned Minissan down as well. It seems that in the US you have to build a car based on the magazine's advertisers if you want coverage. That explains why most of the cars you see at shows are pretty much the same, no/zero/zip creativity, magazines dumb the readers up for profit.. They're digging their own grave when they don't balance what the readers want and what the advertisers want.
It's hard to smack on you guys, you're the real success story, from crap to HOLY CRAP!!! This year the excitement seems to be on tow vehicles and tires. Is there a potential favorite this year? If Wheels is competitive in more than one event he could do it... who else has something more interesting than their tow vehicle??
I did the math. Our tow vehicle has a better power to weight ratio than our Challenge car (both Fords). That's just wrong! (17.31 vs 20.67 lbs/hp)

Yeah because that nearly stock Starion was a real page turner...

I'd buy a set (4) if you have extra or can get some more.

OR, you are assuming someone would want to read (or write for that matter) an article about the Mega Money Minisaga

We will be happy to make it. Competitiveness will be questionable until proven otherwise.

What, the supreme dealer of smack can't handle a sample of his own product?
Favorites? I dunno, I'd like to see another team come out of berkeleying nowhere and bring a nuclear weapon to the proverbial knife-fight like the Cheapperal guys did...and not hear anyone whine about losing to them.
Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying a lovely meal of Ramen by candle light, filling out a gazillion tax forms while your boy Obama finds new creative ways to violate my poopie parts so he can fund his reparations.

Hmmm, the first Starion to compete in the Challenge, total cost about $780, top 5 autocross (I think), top 10 overall beating out around 40-45 cars, that's not interesting. You are correct, the paint was factory stock. I hope someone brings a Miata this year, that would be a great/original/awesome/original/creative/original idea! Maybe even do an engine swap in one or turbo it, that would be a great/original/awesome/original/creative/original idea! It's a real challenge to make a 2 seater sports car handle at an autocross, that would make an interesting story........
"What, the supreme dealer of smack can't handle a sample of his own product?" I don't get it, did I miss something???
Wheels, you should put your sons back on the keyboard...

You wouldn't think so....
Wow 780...I would have guessed less.
Top ten autoX is good...not as good as our car but that's cool. Just because Starions can't look good or go fast doesn't mean they can't be ok at autoX right?
You keep on keeping on man.
I think perhaps I may have spoken too soon. What started as a relaxing afternoon drive through the twisty hills ended by barely limping back home with a bunch of broken stuff...

Ruh Roh...
Whatcha got?

I'm not even going to look into it further until tomorrow at the earliest, so I do not have a full assessment. The emergent issue is a broken radiator tank and an oddly functioning fan; possibly not in that order... nothing that cannot be overcome.
requisite crappy cell phone pic from side of the road:

Actually top 5 autocross, but then who's keeping score. Not bad for a POS twice the size of a Miata that had to be pumped up in the rear at the start of each run for the original shocks to kick in. It leaned so much I had to take Dramamine so I wouldn't puke in my helmet. It would be great if GRM went back to the road course for the autocross so you can be schooled on speed, suddenly size wouldn't matter. After that you would probably give your car back to your wife or girlfriend and put the baby seat and flower holder back in....

Bull.
You were going to puke from the Soul Glo on that twisty clown mop of yours.
Since I was e36m3canned and don't have a job I can take the time off for the Challenge, but since I was e36m3canned I can't afford a Florida trip. Stoopid fate.

Good observation, Soul Glo is the only way I can slide an XL helmet over a XXL head. Plus it makes my hair more manageable while keeping the curls and ginger color exactly like the picture on the box that so many women pay for. Crap, now I sound like a Miata owner...
Got the $2010 GTX cranked up tonight. Suck it up, clown, I'm gonna leave tire marks on your big floppy shoes!
Bad news first: Texas A&M will be unable to attend the $2010 Challenge this year. We have had some serious manpower and logistical issues this summer. By manpower, I mean there have been maybe six of us in town this summer, and all of us have higher priorities, like school and work. Logistically speaking, our program is spread out among three different shops, all of which are at the tips of a triangle with 15 mile side. Nothing happens fast, and much doesn't happen at all.
At beginning of the summer we were still on track, but by a few weeks ago reality had something to say, and it became time to make a hard decision. We, as a team, unanimously decided we would rather move our program to a two-year cycle than rush our build and show up with a car we did not have complete confidence in. Putting our school's name on a car is a big deal, and we do not want to embarrass ourselves or our university with an ill-prepared race car.
On the surface this may look like A&M will be bowing out of the Challenge in the future. Far from it. This decision was made with the longevity of our program in mind. Texas A&M has every intention of maintaining a strong presence in the GRM Challenge. We will be moving our cars to a two-year cycle, with the Nismospeed Miata becoming our entry for the $2011 Challenge, and we will begin our as-yet-undecided $2012 Challenge car this fall. Those of you good with math will realize that will allow us to enter a car every year, yet have two years to build each car. This will permit us to align our build better with the academic year when our sizeable manpower is available. The October date of the Challenge means that, on a one-year cycle, the majority of the build is completed over the summer, which for a college program, is also when the fewest students are in town. Personally, I didn't pursue any internships or out-of-town employment this summer for the sole purpose of running this program. That's not something we can reasonably ask of students in the future, as this program is intended to augment a student's employment options, not detract from them.
All that being said, I really think this is in the best interest of our program. If we were still trying to make the $2010 Challenge with the Nismospeed Miata, it would barely be running, and would most certainly not be painted. That'd just be embarrassing for all involved. This car has too much potential to be mistreated like that. We are not backing down from this car, and pulling back to a two-year cycle will allow us to show up with a properly sorted and prepared car that was have confidence in. We'll have the time now to focus on the little things that take a car from "good" to "great." Our build logs will continue to be updated, and we are not slowing down.
You'll need to log in to post.
