Persistent P0456 code for Evap System, Very Small Leak.

I have checked the gas cap and although it is original, the seal is not damaged and appears to be intact.

I disconnected the evap line connected to the white nylon connector under the coolant reservoir and blew into the corrugated plastic line leading to the N80 valve. With the engine off the valve is shut and I'm not able to blow through the line, so it does not appear there are any cracks or pinholes in the corrugated line and the valve is not leaking.

I hooked up a smoke source to the white nylon connector under the coolant reservoir to backfeed the evap system and noticed smoke very clearly coming from the inlet filter of the leak detection pump in the passenger rear wheel well. Is this supposed to be normally shut when the car is off so that the gas tank doesn't vent fumes to the atmosphere, or does it stay open to account for temperature differential and expansion?

Where do I look next to solve the issue? I do not have access to VCDS or Ross Tech or anything like that, just a basic handheld OBD2 scanner.
