I just found a 4 door Bronco for sale in West Texas for $7000. Very tempting but pricey.

I was just checking for any updates on the upcoming Bronco (nothing official) and found a couple renderings I hadn't seen before. These are admittedly non-Ford, fanboi fiction, but they are based on the sheet-covered 2dr styling model shown by Ford in March and the chassis dimensions of the Everest.
If Ford comes through with something that looks like this and can tow my boat, I'm 100% a buyer.

Hot damn. I wonder what the tow rating of something like that would be. If it had the wheelbase and capacity to replace my F150, I'd be 100% in for it.
I just realized that when my Grand Cherokee hits 200k in another 4-5 years, the Bronco will have gone through the teething pains and should be a solid platform. And a perfect time for a purchase by the RossD household!
I'm not a Bronco fanboi that thinks is needs IFS or a stripped interior. My request would be simple: 2 doors (i.e. short wheelbase), V8 (although an Ecoboost V6 might work), Body on frame and the ability to tow a decent amount. Like 7k lbs or more. I had a single cab truck because I didn't want a land yacht size vehicle for normal driving and needed to tow.
More importantly, I hope it has the above and Ford is unable to keep them in stock and forces GM to build the same. Because I would be the first in line for this. I'd even be OK if it only came in 4wd:
But, I know I'm a very niche market and don't expect to ever see one.

Jalopnik had a story today saying they expect it to be available with a 7 speed manual and the 2.7 ecoboost. sounds like a great idea.
Since I've been driving Ridgelines, I've had zero desire to go back to a live axle on the front or rear. I've never done serious off-roading, but have spent lots of time on washboard grades and such where the control of IRS is a great thing to have. Besides the macho thing, it seems to me that the only real arguments for live axles are the ability to lift and mod them without worrying about screwing up suspension/halfshaft geometry. What else?
In reply to Kreb :
Flex and strength at the extreme end. And you can still royally screw up caster and driveline angles with solid axles. See Jeep Death Wobble for a fun example
Solid axles flex much better while not losing clearance or strength. (My Scrambler at LBL as an example)
Ford released HP and towing numbers on the Ranger this week - 270HP. 310 flbs torque, tows 7500lbs, 10 speed auto trans. This is from the only gas engine option, the 2.3 EB 4cyl. Interestingly, this beats the factory rating across the board from my 20 year old V8 Grand Cherokee. From a 4 banger. What a world.
I hope they keep the towing close on the Bronco. I'd love to see the 2.7L EB V6 in either platform but I doubt they'll do that except possibly in the Raptor version.
The other engine option in the Ranger will be a diesel of some sort in the second year. I wonder if the Bronco will get it as well? THAT would be interesting. Diesel midsize 4x4 SUV with a 7speed manual? No one else is doing that. Not sure I'd be interested personally though.
I love this thread since (major boasting here) I work in the Design Studio and look at it every day, plus know the details. What's right, and more frequently what's way way off the mark in the press is highly amusing but as you can imagine, if I want to keep my job I'm not telling.
One thing I can confirm, the picture with the dirty sheet. That's the only official image out there (I provided it for release) and it's the actual vehicle as it was then, there are changes since then, but the outline is damn damn close.
Keep on adding entertainment though, I love this thread.

Yeah, I think about you every time I post something here. Must be torture knowing the truth and not being able to share. Just tell me one thing. Is it cool?

That just HAS to be a cool job. I would be majorly boasting too!
So...at this late date -Ranger production is about to start- could you say it's pretty much a completed design at this point?
oh, and what does the next Mustang look like....?

Ahhh that is so fantastic! I'm sure it's torture to not share anything.
Based on the "dirty sheet" photo, I can't see how it would be a legitimate four-door or allow for a variant, unless the whole thing is stretched much like the Wrangler. The long hood, nice square lines, and spare tire on the back though... goodness. I can't wait.

Put it this way, I get company cars. My wife drives one, my eldest daughter the other. I drive my 08 Volvo and my 99 Boxster. The Bronco is my next car.
When will you bring it over for a review neighbor?
I spent a LOT of my youth in first gen Bronco's-camping all over MI, Silver Lake sand dunes trips, winter bumper hitching, fixing, and driving our half-cab before selling it. I'm looking forward to the Bronco.
Adrian, when will an official picture be released, if you're allowed to share? I mean of the actual vehicle, not a sheet over it

Is the US Ranger different from the T6 that the ROW already has? I saw a ton of what looked like brand-new Rangers when I was in Vietnam earlier this year. I'll be honest, I liked the Ranger-derived Ford Everest much, much better from a visual standpoint than the Ranger itself. The pickup seems to have a ridiculously high bed liftover height and an unappealingly-high beltline from everything I saw...
In Vietnam, I never actually saw the inside of the bed of one....they ALL had some kind of fancy hard-cover to prevent theft, etc.

The new US ranger is the T6 with small changes such as bumpers and other localization stuff. But essentially the same.
It will never get the coyote. Not enough chassis width, plus Ford is doubling down on the turbo stuff. The only reason the coyote still exists in the F150 is to keep the technophobe buyers. I wouldnt be surprised to see it go away in the future.
Not that I necessarily agree with that idea, but I'm pretty sure that's how they see it.
