My 66 Falcon weighs about 2900 lbs. With a V8.

I'll admit, it's not exactly 'nimble'. But it's absolutely cavernous inside compared to any of these current offerings.

Progress, LOL.

I suggested putting an NC Miata drive train and suspension in a '62 falcon to a friend. He thought it would be too heavy for the engine until I showed him the weights of the Falcon and his PRHT NC.

Re: the Mirage

To be fair, I didn't hate it. It's a very honest little car; it doesn't try to be anything it isn't. I wish I could drive a manual transmission version. The CVT sucked a lot of the fun out of it. The 3 cylinder has a pretty unique thrum and it was hilarious to drive in anger. It was fun to drive a car the size of a roller skate in a slow car fast kinda way.

One surprise was how well the touchscreen infotainment system worked. It was way more responsive compared to the one in my Ford Maverick. It worked flawlessly for the week I had it as a rental. The backup camera was also far superior to the Maverick as well.

I actually tried to research if there was any aftermarket performance parts available but there isn't much out there.

When I started autocross in 2018, there was a club out of the Tampa Bay area called FAST. Their club president had one of the three cylinder mirages as his autocross car. I have no idea how it was set up, definitely wasn't on stock suspension.

When you figure that the Falcon probably came with a rather heavy all-iron 144ci six that probably made the same power as, oh, a new Mirage smiley

"The engine makes tantalizingly close to the power of the very horse which it outweighs!"
