Contact by the Austin kills the Corvette
The GT pro winner. Ya right. Has to overdrive the corner causing contact and cuts down the better cars tire to win.
Hope you are proud of your self Austin Martin.
I'd need to see a better replay before claiming that he cut down the tire considering it was more than a lap before the Corvette started to struggle
I have been a crew chief on an endurance team competing in many 6 12 and 24 hour races and I would not be proud to take a win like that.

I really hope you are right.
What an exciting last hour, Aston/Vette was good to watch but I hate seeing the win due to a tire issue at the end.
I am sure they will disect it and figurar it out. There was contact on that side so for the moment I see it as a poor sportsmanship on the part of Austin Martin.
Damage to a sidewall or a valve stem can cause a slow leak that does not show up immediately. In fact tires are designed to not fail catastrophically. You don't want that.
Going back in the youtube stream it looked to be the left rear of the Corvette into the side of the Aston, left front was the tire that died a thousand deaths on the last 1 1/2 laps. Contact was at 5:27 to go if you want to rewatch.

You sure??? Now I need to go look at it somehow. That puts an even worse spin on it.
Admittedly, I probably don't have all the facts, but if the Corvette was fast enough, the Aston would not have gotten near to begin with. That is still a lousy way to end a race for the Corvette camp.
In reply to adam525i:
After the lead had changed there was more contact with the other Aston which caused the Corvette to go off at Dunlop which is what cut the tire down completely. That was the start of the last lap.
I think his tires were gone anyway.

So no front wheel contact. Then I stand corrected. That still sucks.
