Not the best quality video, but the racing is incredible!

The Archer Brothers made me want to buy a 2wd Comanche.

They're not as "mini" anymore, but the new version of the Superute series is kind of the same idea:

That video from Brainerd is always my go to video to show people an awesome race series that I wish could have lasted a lot longer.

For sure, what a cool series.

I love it. I DD a single-cab 4cyl 1st gen Colorado and still feel it is too big, heavy and overpowered. Those were the days!

Curious to know what suspension was being run on these.  I imagine they were HEAVILY modified especially in the front end - think Comanchees and Rangers for instance.

In reply to Stanger2000 :

I believe the Commaanche's had a drop axle but still nothing too crazy going on. Not sure on the Rangers.

I don't recall that they were crazy.  It was different times.  Pretty sure they were close to Improved Touring rules.

Well considering the Comanche had a straight axle, the Archer Bros figured out they could notch it in the middle then bend it to get the camber they needed.

If you read through rhe XJ-R thread, they talk about where they copied that exact setup.

Actually, the Archer Brothers bent their axle, but since the XJ-R team didn't have the tools to do that, they had to pie cut their front axle for camber.

I loved the truck racing and the North American Super Touring car series.  It is a shame both died too early.  Kind of odd that in all those pics and multi year running of the trucks only 1 S10 in there.

1st gen S-10s are kinda dense and sluggish-feeling compared to other mini trucks of the time. It felt like they needed 40hp more than the others. I think it's because they were full of beefy Camaro parts.

The Iron Duke that they had to run probably factored more heavily into the equation.
