I had a 81 Corolla wagon a bunch of years ago. Great little car. 1.8L if I remember correctly. It was a bit of a rust bucket though. The lady I bought it from used to do landscaping out of it. Fertilizer is hell on body work. I think I paid about $350 for it.
it's this sort of thread that keeps me coming back! Grassroots racing at its best. (real cars on real tracks. Not candy painted stuff on the street, or million dollar tailer queens)

Man, my first car was an 82 corrolla auto with WAY over 200k on the clock. I'd love to find a coupe with a stick, I'd rock it all day long. That thing was a blast.
Even if you don't win, run it like hell and you'll make us proud!
hehehehehehe.... I've got one of those....
with a bit more than 100hp... mine is running a "tweaked" 4AG (about 140hp @the wheels) It isn't quite finished yet... soon though

That is one cool Corolla. I like the matching white paint and wheel combo. I am looking to do a 4AG swap in the near future but until I kill the 3TC in it now.

I haven't seen the video yet, but it's probably faster than my track toy.
Im looking at the cars in your sig and... nope. I think a stock 1.9 escort would be faster. Gt obviously not too slow. Celica Gt also faster.
Whats your track toy?
I mean, im not complaining.. ive had multiple cars that slow. 20.0, 19.2, 18.7, 18.2 in the quarter, ive run them all. But those were all quiet, and didnt make grinding noises. 3 of them had 3spd automatics, and one of them was a minivan. And none of them had more than 75 whp.
This particular Celica has always seemed horribly down on power to me. The Escort feels like it would run circles around it, the MX6 is on a different planet.
The strange thing is: It's survived me beating the crap out of it for awhile now, it doesn't burn any oil, it runs perfectly smooth... it just has no guts. Not that these things have much guts to begin with, but it's a far cry from the last 93 GT Coupe i had, which was bone stock, drank oil, leaked everything, and had more miles.
This car is completely gutted, has less unsprung weight on top of that, and it feels at least a full second slower in the quarter.
That said, i did nail a 15.9 in the 93 GT, which is a bit out of the ordinary. But this thing feels like it'd be lucky to run faster than a 17.5.
Oh yeah... to answer your question, the Celica is the toy.

If you are waiting until you kill a 3TC, you may have a fairly long wait, even if you are trying.

So very true. I can't even begin to put into words the amount of abuse that the '80 Liftback that my friends pass around has seen. Crazy reliable car.
