Actually, that one. According to the owner, the last cambelt change had been done at 85k, so I guess I'll have a few months until it wants one. One little detail that's missing in the ad is that it needs a new top - the owner doesn't mention what the damage to the top is (I tried, the response was "needs a new top") but supposedly it has all the M-edition goodies still.
Of course I'd still need a hardtop, which makes the price a little high for my liking, but decent Miatas seem to be pretty expensive out here.
I have a '96 M Edition with 78,000 miles. It is totally rust-free, and spends its winters inside. It is worth maybe $6,000 if I wait for the right buyer. If I needed a quick sale, I could probably get $5k. Mine has a newer, cheap top, and is in excellent mechanical condition.
I'd say that one is worth $4,500. Maybe a little more. By the asking price, it looks like he's in the ball park.
OK, that's making sense then. Hmm. Something to think about.
