That's right, the guys at Blackbird Fabworx are putting a Ferrari 360 Modena V8 in their shop car. Interesting.

Apparently Ferrari V8 swaps are the thing to do now, because Ryan Tuerck built the GT4586, a Toyota GT86 with a 458 Italia engine.

Make angels question the definition of beautiful sounds.

And yet now I have a new thing to search for on CL "auto-parts".

They're usually in the Lotus side of the yard.
Nice numbers, but Meh... I am too lazy to go to 9000 rpm looking for power. The LS starter motor has more torque at 3500 rpm than the Ferrari engine.
Engine. The 458 is powered by a 4,499 cc (274.5 cu in) V8 engine of the "Ferrari/Maserati" F136 engine family, producing 570 PS (419 kW; 562 hp) at 9,000 rpm (redline) and 540 N. m (398 lb. ft) at 6,000 rpm with 80% torque available at 3,250 rpm.

The problem I see here is you are trying to apply logic to a hobby that is, at it's core, illogical. If we only did the logical thing, we wouldn't do it at all. Or at the very least, everyone would come to the same basic conclusion. Sometimes you just have to do something because it makes you laugh, or it makes you smile, or you think its cool.

Same here, especially the newer Ferraris. While the 458 Italia is an awesome machine to drive, the engine sound did nothing for me, unlike classic Ferraris. An uncorked LS is another story though.

They're a bitch to package but 180* headers will solve that if you really want. Personally I think a hot LSx with a regular exhaust setup sounds great.
I'm not sure I'd put one in a Miata, but I'd love to have a Ferrari motor and the resources to play with it.
