Video time! Turn it up, and get ready to follow a 525 hp Miata with Hoosiers as wide as yo mama around the track.

You've ruined Miatas for me. Now the only way one would be acceptable is if was a V8 with over 500 hp. Thanks a lot.

The intake noise makes the camera car sound like Darth Vadar!

It's the Targa Miata. Same basic drivetrain, suspension and aero, but 225 Toyos instead of Hoosiers. And a driver who knows the track a lot better

The rule is to always have a faster camera platform.

Might be enough to get me into a Miata.

I still can't get over the level of power you guys are cramming into those little cars!

My 3,800 lb Mark VII feels decently quick (to me) with a measly 225 hp.

I can't imagine 1,200 or so fewer pounds and 300 more horsepower!!!

Offering some constructive criticism - looks like that driver needs some more development. He appears to be early apexing many of the turns, totally missing the apex on others, very abrupt on steering inputs at turn in and trying to keep the car on track at corner exit b/c he had early apexed. Seems to be on the brakes too far into the turns too.

With that power to weight ratio, someone can hurt themselves rather easily so hoping these comments can make the driver aware so he can work on technique and being safe.

He's a very experienced driver, races spec Miata back east, but had never seen the tight track before, and just picked the car up from FM the day before, so deserves some slack.

Yeah, the v8 on that track doesn't even break a sweat!

The new owner of the car has great respect for it. Between its performance capabilities, his first time on Hoosiers and a very technical track he'd never seen before - he was doing ok. I gave him a few tips after that session, and he was getting cleaner as the session went on. If you only watch the first five corners, well, it does look a little choppy.

Here's the camera car on a bigger track They do like to stretch their legs - but when the nearest big track is 5 hours away, sometimes you have to use the little one.
