no.
Don't be a SISSY. Anybody can give up.
This is punishment for selling the mark VIII instead of using it for it's intended purpose.
It only took two spark plugs to beat you? Do not shame this community. Use this as an excuse... nay, opportunity! to do something awesome.
I had the Mark sold less than 36 hours after purchase, get with the program people!
Naw, after stewing all day I still love my car, I just loathe the beancounters at 90's FoMoCo. I should be able to get it home (already unplugged the injector and pulled the coil). It was just we had flown in at 1AM after a 10-day vacation only to make it 3 blocks from where the car was stored to have it blow. That kind of failure pisses the other half off (and with good reason). I'm going to attempt to retrieve it tomorrow.
I have a $100 off LKQ coupon, maybe it's time to buy a 5.3 and get this over with.
THAT! rIght there! That sounded like something a man would say.
It'd be a lot easier to say if I was still working
Unfortunately, browsing CL for cars that cost as much as a 5.3 is not helping...
what do you want to do with yourself? jobwise.

P71,
How about a 5.4 and this?

Ford created the P71 to serve and protect. Sounds like you got served. Good luck with the rest.

In reply to lewbud:
For $3000.00 it better come with four wheels and a body.
To P71:
Sorry to hear it man. I have been dreading blowing a plug out of my 5.4 ever since I heard about the problem. Especially hauling a 7000# trailer all over the state. Knock on wood, it hasn't happened in the last 150k miles. When it does I may just burn it to the ground where it stops. Good luck.

He's already got 4 wheels and a body. This would just make it more awesome.
EDIT: From what I've read on some of the Mustang forums, keeping the plugs properly torqued will prevent this. I wish I had known this before mine blew out. The parts I suggested are going on the Mustang as soon as I beef up the chassis, brakes and trans. If the hp specs are correct, Terminator power without the pesky supercharger.
I changed the plugs at 125K and have re-checked the torque twice since then. It's bad accounting/engineering pure and simple.
Saying I got "served" on this car is pretty much BS though. I paid $2350 for it, put 26,6xx miles on it (road tripped to Cali and back too), did 4 track days with it, won multiple drag races and even won a Season Championship with it, participated in a gymkhana/drift event, and even autocrossed it to the tune of a Regional STU class win with times better than some Miatas. It has given me 32 months of impeccable service until now.
That's why I have a hard time making the decision to dump it. I won my first NHRA event in that car, my first Championship, and have many, many good memories. Hell, in drag racing it only has 3 round losses in 3 seasons of competition, 2 of which were in the finals. The car went undefeated for like 8 months and actually intimidates other bracket racers (though I have won events in a 6-speed manual GTO too).

I actually had an excellent interview before I left for an Admin Assistant position to grow into a Veteran and disabled workers counselor/case manager. I've been applying for dozens of jobs and am basically interested in anything I can use my degree on.
Fine. Anything but the milquetoast P71.

Didn't you just deal with this same problem? Whether the car has been dead nuts reliable for the last 2 years or 12 years, if your car pops spark plugs out of the head twice in just a few months, that seems like a bad thing. One time is a fluke, two times is a sign.
Bryce
Eventually all 8 will pop Bryce. It's just a question of when. I agree with 2 being a sign, hence why I'm looking at selling.
can't you swap just the heads from a 32 valve?
I warned my 5.4 loud & clear: "you blow a plug, I'm buying trickflows."
I could, to the tune of around $1200 including heads, intake, gaskets, timing set, etc, etc.

I think it is more time for a new engine than a new car

Where did you find Trickflows at that price? Lowest prices I've seen are $1800 for the heads alone. Unless you're talking heads for the 5.0.

Not exactly the same as your car, but check out this thread in which a guy put a 5.3 in an MN12 T-Bird:
5.3 in a T-Bird
God forbid that I blow the motor in my Supercoupe (again) I'll be stuffing an LS1 and T56 in that car.
I've been off work this week, so I've been using my p71 to transport cars to make some extra dough.
I love this thing.
3 spark plug threads & all.

Not Trickflows! The DOHC heads. And that would be a JY pair from a Lincoln.
I've lost count how many whole mark VIII's've seen change hands for under $1000
sissy.
You ever pulled the heads on one? The timing chain setup is incomprehensible gobbily-gook!
