Face it boys. We are wrong, wrong, wrong. Everybody wants a truck that requires a step and a handle to get in the box. We need a massive hunk of steel so we won't be injured when we run into something we didn't see. Laws require that we drive a 7000 pound vehicle to tow a dirt bike on a trailer. Fuel economy is for suckers.
We are just a bunch of losers, who have the illusion that our penises are already big enough.
I've hauled my dirtbikes with my 95 Dodge dually with the 12v cummins diesel. Of course it gets better mileage than most of the trucks mentioned in this thread.... also has more power (by a lot), room, towing capacity, etc. I have a bunch of small cars too and feel just fine about the size of my junk.
Coming from an '05 Dak(ex cab, 6.5' bed), the only advantage to it's size is it is easier to drive due to width.
The cab is only good for 2, even a child in middle up front is painfully tight, and the rear "seat" is only good for dry storage. It sucks gas like a full size. Any time I have used it as a truck, I was wishing it was a long bed full size.
Thankfully it is not my money in it.
The 2013 Colorado model resembles an early gen Tundra....albeit a smaller version, at first glance. Gues Chevy couldnt come up with something that doesnt resemble a vehicle already on the market....
It does concern me that they only seem to offer the goofy 4 or 5 ft long bed with the crew cab. Ideally they should have a small diesel, crew cab, and 6ft bed and I'm there.
In reply to CamaroKeith:
It's because they only use one frame for all vehicles.

Yesterday I passed a Chrysler/Jeep dealer that had a couple of those Wrangler pickup conversions out in front....they were asking $36K for a small, 6 cylinder powered (albeit 4WD), truck, when I would think a full-size 4WD truck could be nearly the same price after rebates.
I was not familiar with this but some googling revels this:

$9k just for the kit!!

Am I wrong for liking this?
Give me a late-'90s Cummins diesel Ram. That's all I need. And that truck isn't too big, either.
In other news, I still miss my old '01 Ram.

Wow, do *none* of you read current automotive news?
Mahindra isn't coming to the US.
The Ranger is D E A D dead.
The new Global Ranger isn't coming to the US.
The Dakota is D E A D dead.
The Nissan Frontier is the only "mid-size" truck left, and it's nearly identical to the Titan.
You were doing good up to that last one. Titan is huge compared to the fronty, Tacoma is still same as since 05, and the tundra is similarly portly over the taco
I am weary, I had a S10, blew the engine, Driven multiple Colorados and thought they were horrible. But it looks good and seems to be a drastic change from the GM little trucks of old.
Maybe a good buy.
So are you the only idiot that would buy one? right now...maybe
You can get a new ram 1500 sxt extended cab 4x4 with the small v8 for 25k in Canada
I'm keeping my 1994 toyota pickup until a better truck comes out, which hasn't happened. New trucks are big, heavy, ugly and get abhorrent gas mileage. The toyota gets 27mpg and can haul 1100lbs in the bed. The modern truck is all about upsale, forget leather seats and navigation, and airbags. A small truck which is capable enough to get 95% of jobs done with little fuss is all I need. I don't even know if people actually use trucks to haul anymore, I think it is all about a fashion statement.
