So y’all can now breathe a sigh of relief because I won’t be asking your thoughts on which car to get. But I will have some other questions about RallyX ANNND some news.
Patience is not really one of my virtues but in spite of that I waited, impatiently, for something to come along that fit my wants / needs. I possibly could / would have bought something sooner but those were all pretty far away. This one, kinda lucky for me, is in a little out of the way town not too far from me. And it fit into my slightly modified budget. I also lucked out being the first of seven to make the owner the same offer. Being the first got me the car.
I suppose you boys might be asking – alright already what the xxx did you get?
2000 Ford Ford Econobox ZX2 S/R
A 2 door Ford Econobox has been in my head since I was looking for an IMCA Sport Compact, but they aren’t legal there. So now I’ll be RallyXing one.
It only has 77k miles on it and is in very, very good condition. The owner told me she had manuals for it and I was thinking Haynes or Chilton – turns out it is the factory manual. I also got what looks to be complete service etc records for it too. Also, I did not know it was an S/R before I looked at it.
The only kinda negative is the clutch the second owner put in it. It works so that is good. But it feels like a race clutch – a lot like the one in my H-Production Fiat. It feels like too much for the street so I am thinking I will go to something more appropriate for my uses.

I test drove a bright yellow one when they were new & really liked it. It seemed a bit lacking compared to a Neon ACR, but was definitely a step above a regular ZX2.
There's a shop on US98 right before you turn for Sebring International Raceway that has about three or four ZX-2's sitting out front. I'm pretty sure he's got another that he races in Champcar.

This one does feel pretty fun. I may have to control myself a bit more than I am used to.

You sir are trying to enable me.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
From what I have found there were only 500 black SRs made.
A question: I noticed where I wrote the name of the car, an E.s.c.o.r.t, it has been changed to “Econobox”. What up?
