I apologize, I've looked but I don't see what I needed.
I know that the Renesis engine has successfully been Megasquirted but my GoogleFu is bringing up forums that say to convert to RX7 twin turbo or that Megasquirt is witchcraft.
I would like a detailed parts and supplier list of what it would take to make a stand alone Renesis Megasquirt system with ignition and fuel control.
The engine in the new car smokes on start up after a very long crank and makes none after warmed up. I am starting to believe that the replacement starter and a new set of plugs as well as different oil in the pan will do it a lot of good but I am still 100% convinced that the car needs torque so an engine swap will be getting a V6 or V8 first.
I have access to another vehicle that may be a perfect rotary holding device and playing my cards properly could lead into a 2019 Challenge entry.
What say the hive? Who has the info I crave?
Did not read fully at first, if you have the stock PCM you can get an accessport for S1's, Good luck.
Add coils to your checklist. They suck and and are worse hot. I have 4 from "ran when parked" condition if you want them.
megasquirt- cable throttle + pedal, hack up the stock harness, premix, and go.
min connections:
Crank trigger (keep connected to stock ecu for electric power steering function)
Map line or stock MAF
6 injectors (could pair secondaries to cut down to 4 drivers)
4 coils - preferably upgrade to LS1
TPS
Coolant temp
Air temp
SSV actuator - solenoid driver (<1A)
VDI actuator - solenoid driver (<1A)
APV actuator... hmm its a motor with position feedback and you're not going to make much power without it working. That's a tough one...
Bonus points for something fancier than the fans and fuel pump on a toggle switch.
While I do have a stock PCM if I remove the engine and transmission and put it in a Miata or MGB GT or a Kaiser Darrin I would not want to drag everything else on the CAN BUS along with it.
This would not be in a RX8
These use a 36-2-2-2 spark mode, which is a bit different from previous rotaries. Other than that, most of the notes about earlier 13B versions still apply to the Renesis.
Currently there's only one "second stage" of injection, so if using six injectors, you'd need to fire one stage of two injectors and one stage of four injectors.
You could also look at something like this:
4-channel board
If you need more injector or ignition drivers.
