The Goodwill auto auction was yesterday so I went to check out a few cars. Some Volvos, an 83 Saab 900 turbo and some boring cars to flip. I ended up coming home with 2 1995 850s.

The green sedan is a turbo with automatic trans that runs and drives. The red wagon is not turbo but it does have a manual trans. It cranks but does not start. The eventual plan is to swap the turbo engine into the wagon with the manual. Total cost for both was $800.

There was also a non-running 3000gt VR-4 that went for $3000 (!).

Yea, about that... After bringing these home I realized that I need to get the truck finished and out of the garage before starting other projects. Today I got some more fab work done to finish up the bed area and the tailgate. We should have some progress to post in a week or two before getting it ready for paint.

...and there were loud angle-grinder noises coming from the garage when mike made his post.

Timing: Impeccable

I saw the turbo sedan and was hoping you were going to sell it to pay for the wagon, and i was going to inquire, but your plan is better because we tried counting cars yesterday and forgot about the Datsun when we got to 11.

edit: crap I forgot about the Studebaker.  Yeah we’re at 13 again.  Time to liquidate

I got the red wagon running today. I was going to swap the cam position sensor from the turbo on since that is a common failure point. It is easy to get to in the non-turbo but a pain on the turbo with the intake piping running right next to it. I didn't feel like fighting with it today so I was looking over the engine bay of the wagon some more. I noticed that the connector for the ignitor under the coil was unplugged so I plugged it in. It started right up and ran somewhat fine.

There is some lifter tick but that might clear up with driving, I don't know how long it was sitting. Someone put stop leak in the coolant tank but the cap was cracked, I imagine it was leaking out of the cap when it warmed up.

That's it?  That's all it was?  It lived, it died, and it lives again.  You need to paint it:
