I opened the door on my mustang yesterday and part of the vinyl trim peeled right off the door panel. the thin layer of foam underneath is disintegrating. Great work Ford, only 6 years old. At least the drivetrain's solid.

So now I have to take all the foam off with a stiff bristle brush, spray some adhesive and re apply the vinyl.

Can anyone recommend the best spray adhesive? I was planning on ol' 3M #77 but if there's a better option, I'd be interested....

I'm not an expert in upholstery work, but I've done 2 vehicles now, my Truck and the Esprit seats. I used the 3M 77 in the Esprit. That's some good E36 M3 there.

Pretty much the standard...certainly better than whatever ford used!

I upholstered a hood last night. Does that count?

I will be billing you for the cleanup of all the coffee I just sprayed all over my desk

But seriously I would use 3m 74 for the foam and 80 for the vinyl. If you dont care about putting down more foam you could do a perfectly acceptable job sticking the vinyl to the door card with 80. I like to stick down a layer of foam and then cut words and designs out of the foam and lay down a layer of fabric or vinyl over that.
