Had a lamp failure annunciated on the Z4 this morning and the right headlight was not on. Cleared after a couple of minutes, so the first thing I'll likely do is nothing, waiting for a more permanent failure.
All the pieces of the system-- bulb, igniter, control module are high dollar, probably non-returnable parts.
Is there any better way to troubleshoot one of these systems than swapping the parts side to side to see which might be the failed component?
Check all the connections. Had an HID headlight stop working on one of my kid's cars and after buying a $115 lamp it turned out to be a $3.50 connector that had melted.
