Guys, I can't take the stock seat in my 92 GTA anymore. It's hot garbage and every bad stereotype of "old GM" summed up in one stupid, evil, demonic spine breaker of a seat.

My question for you guys who have swapped one before is, what brackets did you use, and did you have any issues with the seat sitting too high once completed? I'm 6ft tall, and want this thing sitting on the floor. I don't want my head hitting the roof in a helmet.

The car has power seats, and I'm fine with using the factory seat tracks and modifying them if necessary to keep it low. I am getting a reclining seats instead of a fixed back. The car will see 80 percent weekend cruising and 20 percent HPDEs.

I'd appreciate any insight from you guys, thanks.

I would look for a set of sliders from a manual seat. Then mount what ever seat you are putting in to that. If you are purchasing new they may sell adapters to the stock sliders or sell sliders for the seat for that car.

As someone who just finished this I will say you will be challenged with stock manual sliders. I am 5’8.... on a good day with great posture. My 84 camaro is a t to car and I am coming to terms with the debate of view out the windshield vs helmet on roof/ safety cage.

I put a race bucket in mine in about 1984.  I have absolutely no memory of how, because my boss eventually needed his codrivers seat back for his rally car.

I'm 6'2", sit tall, and had no issue in my hardtop.  I really don't remember whether I used the slider, because ain't nobody drive the Z but me.

Get some manual sliders from a 4th gen f body.  They are identical and bolt right in.

I just swapped the broken power sliders out on my 87 iroc with a set.

Most junkyards have a few 4th gens in them so they are easy to find.

Solid mounted a kirkey in a friend's 82 with angle iron drilled and bolted together with grade 8 hardware I think we drilled some extra holes to do it...  It was something like 10 years ago and I haven't looked at that car in 4-5 years
