Not surprisingly the idea of an over-complicated big truck with a tendency towards issues that perplex most dealerships intrigues me.

Basically what i know is-the batteries have issues and the owners find no relief at the dealership. The owners occasionally dump them on craigslist for half the going rate of a problem free one. The battery is just a giant prius battery and lends itself to diy repairs but the community is way smaller than the prius community so the online info is sparse. It looks like one of those vehicles that a knowledgeable owner could keep on the road with a bit of diy repair. Anyone else have horror stories to run me off?

Do it! Become the knowledge base so the rest of us can follow in your footsteps!

I'm perfectly happy to follow somebody else's recipe rather than experiment and try to create my own...

I have a 2013 tahoe hybrid. For better or worse it's just a 4wd Tahoe. It doesn't really feel or drive differently than a non-hybrid in any appreciable way. I average 21.4 mpg instead of the roughly 15mpg I got from my previous tahoe. The trim is similar to an ltz except there is no auto tailgate and the hybrid has 18" forged wheels (which I vastly prefer over 20"+ wheels).

What sold me was that the dealer was willing to sell the hybrid for $2000 cheaper than the ltz. The biggest knock I have against it is that the tow rating is under 6000 lbs. I don't tow anything that heavy so it hasn't been a problem.

Edit: forgot to mention that I haven't had any problems and nothing has broken.

I've been wanting to stuff that drivetrain in my camaro to make me eligible for the EV/Hybrid class...

Just to echo Ojala, i talked to a guy who drove like courier/hotel/valet service where the courtesy vehicle was a couple of them and he said they were nice they just got better city mpg of about 20mpg

Wife wanted one a while back and it seemed to me a terrible idea. I had grave concerns they had over complicated my autozone friendly Tahoe. Love the idea of they do good truck things well without issue.

In reply to 84FSP:

There seem to be a lot of them with problems out there in relation to the very few made. It does seem like you can get really detailed information out of a reasonably priced scanner. It also looks like some good information on fault codes and diagnostic procedures is out there, I just don't have an honest feel for how common and debilitating the faults are.

Lol-The Previa is better at running despite problems than a vehicle should be.
