Waze told me to watch out for animals in the road... sure enough there were turkeys nervously eyeballing the opposite side of highway!

Perhaps detectors are the cause of brake lights going on for no apparent reason.
Apparent being the key word. One of my earliest recollections of radar detectors was as a ~17 year old street racing on the highway. We were coming up a hill and the other guy slammed on the brakes right before the top. I didn't think twice and just coasted over the hill. The cop still got me for 85 as i was slowing down.
