I've looked at the tire guide so many times but never made it to the bottom. That is one awesome chart and actually convinced me I chose the best choice for some of my cars. RE71RS seems to be the jam.

Well, not too many tires made in the sizes I need.  Out of the RR's, V730's, RC1's and CRS V2's, only the CRS V2's are made in the sizes I need.  So I guess I either try out the CRS V2's or stick with NT01's.

Well the chart shows CR-S is better than NT01 in wear, pace, etc. Everything but warmup (and cost). So they must be the ticket worth a try. If they last longer and are gripper to boot!

Don't quote me on this, but I think the NT01's have been around for awhile but not updated. Outdated tire tech.

...for truth.

Cuz it is.

I have three sets of CRS in my garage...and no NT01's.  That should tell you something.

For you history buffs, the press introduction for the Nitto NT01 took place in June 2005.

New here, so apologize if this has been covered. Any other R-comps in the consideration set, such as the Hankook Z214? Seems like it's available in a range of sizes.

That's old tire tech.

The fastest tire on the list is the Hoosier A7, and they were introduced almost 10 years ago.

Some tire reviews have included the weight of the tire.  Some, like this one don't.  I drive a Birkin lotus 7 replica and tire weight on such a light car really come into play.  Would really appreciate if this stat was consistently included in tire comparison tests!

Maybe time to test the Super 200s against the supposedly faster tires.

What exactly are you asking for here?

The Super 200 pointy end is a 3-way tie between A052, RE71-RS and CRS V2...each able to produce similar single lap TT pace, but with a range of different personalities and heat characteristics.

The only thing faster are certain r-comps (A7, R7, A055) and a pair of 100-tw tires (GY SC3R and Trofeo R).

All of this is reflected under the "Pace" column in the chart here: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/track-tire-buyers-guide/

That's a super helpful resource for choosing autox tires.

Just heard from a friend in the tire biz this morning: Soon we’ll have a new track tire for you to test.

I always enjoy Andy's  tire test in GRM but I've always hoped for a test on a heavy CAM car.

I used to run with SASCA when we lived in Texas with my 68 Mustang,I'm in Colorado now and haven't made it out on track in way too long.

All that to say which CAM legal 200TW works better with a 3400lb car?

I respectfully disagree.  Run a 3500lb CAM-T Mustang, and in my experience, the RE71RS seem to be the hot ticket now, unless it's super cool or cold out

This test validates what I've felt about the newer 200tw tires the past few years, for a HPDE situation there's almost no reason to use anything else, especially when cost/longevity is factored in (I get a season + out of a set of RE71R's).  Unless of course you are competing in the HPDE World Championship, then its hoosiers all day wink
