So this weekend I fabricated a new cat back exhaust system for my Miata. I used some old 2.25" tubing I had from my old SpecMiata and an old Bosal SpecMiata muffler. Everything went well but on the drive to work today it was a bit to raspy.
Get home tonight and figure, I'll throw a resonator in there to mellow it out a bit. Car up on stands, exhaust off, tack in, test fit, weld. I ran out of wire with about 2" to go. Luckily I still have my Mazda3 (FOR SALE!!!) so I run to Lowes (which is fortunately still open). Back home, re route wire...hmm...no wire coming out. Well, it missed the tube and is jamming up in the sheath. Pull the welder apart, fix that, start welding again.
OK, exhaust is welded, back in, test for leaks. All done! I clean up the garage, then lower one side of the car. Go to jack up the other side....ummm...why is the jack not lifting? Well, my 10+yr old Craftsman jack dies.
Fortunately, I still have the factory jack in the car and I'm able to stack up some blocks to get it high enough to get the car off the stands.
Sorry for the long post. Just been one of those nights.
Fortunately, my $50 rebate from Bridgestone came today, my HF flier came with the racing jack on sale, and I have a 20% coupon printed off. I know where I'm going tomorrow :)
